(Solution) Samsung Galaxy S | Unable to connect to windows 7 (x64)

  • 0

For whatever reason, my SGS didn’t want to connect with Windows 7 x64. The first thing i tried out was to reinstall the (pretty shitty) Kies software and the driver that comes with it. However… No Success! Windows ends up by saying it cannot find any driver for the connected device. Neither connection to Kies, nor connection as mass storage succeeded :/ Windows didn’t recognize the device….So, after a while I finally came across a solution that works for me, and i guess it should work for most win7 users who have the same problem.

(1) First of all deinstall the whole stuff you may have installed

(2) Then reboot your computer :)

(3) While your computer is rebooting make sure that the Usb-Setting of your sgs is set to “Ask on connection” (applications -> settings -> about phone -> USB settings -> Ask on connection)

(4) When your computer is up again connect your sgs to the computer and choose “mass storage”.Windows should now successfully install drivers for your phone. :-)

(5) Restart your computer :P

(6) Now install crappy Kies!

(7) After installing, Windows tries to search and install new drivers and fails…. this is OK!

(8) Connect your sgs to your computer again and choose “Kies”

(9) Windows should install additional drivers now successfully by saying that your device is now ready to use (yaaaay!)

(10) Start Kies on your computer… Everything should work correctly and your sgs should be displayed in the explorer too :)

cheers
